Variety International – The Children’s Charity’s commitment to improving the lives of children is accomplished by offering financial assistance and support to organizations and agencies that benefit children in need. Funding is also used to provide needed medical services or equipment for seriously ill and physically challenged children.
Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Special Olympics offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competition in 26 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. There is no charge to participate in Special Olympics.
Special Olympics currently serves more than 1.7 million persons with intellectual disabilities in more than 200 Programs in more than 150 countries. In 2000, Special Olympics made a bold commitment to reach 2 million athletes by the end of 2005, placing a renewed focus on building the movement’s infrastructure and establishing tools to facilitate growth. An initial census of athlete participation conducted in that year established a baseline count of athletes worldwide.

The Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1998 with the sole mission of finding a cure for diabetes. Funds are contributed through individuals, foundation, companies and fund-raising events. Contributions received are “ALL” used specifically to fund research to specific doctors and clinics which are working on ground breaking research to cure diabetes.
Hope Through Housing Foundation (HOPE) is a Rancho Cucamonga based nonprofit committed to building better lives for low-income families and seniors. HOPE works in apartment communities for lower-income households and empowers residents through extensive education and wellness programs. HOPE creates, financially supports and implements programs such as job training, adult education, after-school services, and youth intervention. In senior communities HOPE’s goal is to enrich the quality of life and wellbeing of the residents. Senior services include food distribution, health screenings, social interaction, and transportation services. Hope Through Housing Foundation believes community transformation begins with affordable, decent and safe housing. HOPE strives to provide compassionate leadership and mentoring of residents who desire a better life for themselves and their loved ones.
The impact of Big Brothers Big Sisters is profound. In the past year BBBS has matched over 2,000 economically disadvantaged children in our area with a Big Brother or Big Sister. BBBS works closely with parents and children to match children with the right Big Brother or Big Sister. These volunteers are professionals in youth development, support. Our goal is to empower children who face economic, emotional and social challenges through our Community Based Mentoring Program, which provides recreational, educational and community service activities and our Scholl based Mentoring Program, which provides help with homework, reading, friendship and emotional support for our Little sisters and brothers.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: participate, birth defects, low birthweight.
